Firstly and foremost Scottish Country Dancing is sociable and enjoyable and we at Tonbridge Scottish Dancers do it for fun.
We meet every Friday evening from September through to June, broadly following the school calendar.
The classes start at 7.30pm and run until 9.30pm with a short break midway through.
Our focus is on Scottish Country Dancing, primarily at a beginners’ level although a few members are more experienced and are always at hand to help and guide the beginners.
We are fortunate to have a very experienced teacher who takes us through our steps and typically we will learn and dance 6 or 7 dances each club evening.
The classes are for adults of all ages and both sexes, and you don’t need to come with a partner as we swap around partners for each dance.
The club is open to people aged from 16 years upwards. The age range of current members is from mid-20s to mid-70s.
There are only a few basic steps to learn and the skill comes from remembering the sequence of the steps for each dance. Some dances are easy to learn whilst others are a bit more challenging, but most importantly it’s all great fun.
Cost for a 10 week term is currently £50. Come and join us at: St Stephen's Church Community Centre, Waterloo Road, Tonbridge, TN9 2SW
